The Jungle Terrace neighborhood
has a rich and storied past. Many of the residential
homes were built from the 1950's to 1970's comprising
approximately 3,000 residences. However, numerous homes
from the 1920's era exist, reflecting the area's rich
history. Along the western edge of the neighborhood,
one can find breathtaking waterfront mansions overlooking
sparkling Boca Ciega Bay. The Jungle Prada Complex
was built in 1924 housing the Gangplank, St. Petersburg's
first nightclub. Count Basie and Duke Ellenton frequently
played at the nightclub. Babe Ruth was married at the
Jungle Prada. According to legend, Al Capone was a
part owner of the nightclub.
Jungle Terrace Civic Association includes the area west of 66th Street to Boca Ciega Bay. The southern boundary is 22nd Avenue North and the northern boundary is the city limits line of 40th Avenue North.
Jungle Terrace homes range from the
$500's to the $6 millions.
